If you're staging your home for a sale or simply want to spruce up the appearance. A few simple tips can improve the home's entry appearance.
Declutter and then declutter some more. Even though I love having my family photos around normally, when you are staging your home for sale remove your personal photos. Put away extras like shoes and jackets neatly in a storage area. Don't jam them into a closet because home buyers check your closets too!
Play around with the formula of Console Table/Bench + Decorative Items + Mirror. The best console table for an entry will be narrower and taller than a traditional table. Use the table to display decorative items and store small items out of view. Hang a decorative mirror above the console. Test run the lamp in the evening to make sure the glow cast by the lamp fits the mood of the room. Consider changing lamp shades or bulb wattage if you need to adjust the light. And, of course, during the day let some natural light shine in too.
Instead of painting the trim in a room which can be very time consuming, consider just repainting the walls. A warm neutral hue works wonders. If you want a pop of color, instead of painting an entire room consider painting one wall or adding a colorful accent piece.
First impressions matter and that's exactly why the entry is so important. Even though you might not think of normally placing a bouquet of flowers near the entry—this is a great way to greet your potential buyers.
