When I'm not working on this blog, you'll find me guest teaching Special Education and Math classes at the local middle schools. Yes, I'm the geeky mom who likes doing algebra and even calculus. (That's one reason I also include Homework Helper posts.) I also love finding a great tag sale or shopping for vintage items. When the sun is out, I hike the trails with my pups—three dogs you will get to see quite often in this blog. And because I can't seem to get enough hugs and kisses from dogs, I work for a nonprofit animal rescue too.
My kids are teenagers and just like most of their peers they don't like having their pictures taken. Even if I don't include their photos in this blog, I often write about my kids because they are kinda awesome! They even write for me on topics that are dear to their hearts.
Back in the dark ages, before I had kids and started working as consultant from my studio at home, I was an advertising copywriter and a book editor/designer. And before I settled down to a “real” job, I was a ski instructor, lifeguard, and even a French pastry chef.
One of my passions is skiing. I grew up in Minnesota and after college became a racing instructor. Now I live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Although I don't race anymore, I love to spend time in the mountains skiing when the snow is plentiful and the weather is fine. If it's too cold outside for my tootsies, you'll find me drinking hot cocoa inside!
