Can you put a price on the many jobs moms juggle each day for their families? I know my own mom seemed to do so many things and she seemed to do it all effortlessly--everything from cooking kid-friendly meals, catering family parties, chauffering kids to school and sporting events, serving as a personal shopper, housecleaning, laundry, tutoring and much more. I still wonder how she did it all and kept a smile on her face. Even though she deserved some pampering, I don't remember her going for a spa day with her girlfriends or a weekly manicure like moms squeeze into their schedules now. (Maybe that's why I like to take her to the spa when she visits.) Thank you, mom.
Every year Salary.com conducts a survey that "estimates what mom would have earned in wages and overtime, were she actually paid for her services," according to the Boston Herald. This year the survey places the salary for mommy duties completed by stay-at-home moms at $116,805 and working moms at $68,405. We know that a mom's work is never done, and the estimated overtime pay accounts for a big chunk of the salary. The survey found a typical mommy work week for a stay-at-home mom included 94.4 hours and working moms logged in with an average 54.6 hours on mommy work in addition to their work at paying jobs.
