Have you been following Fashion Star? I've been sketching designs from the runway all season and last Friday was week four. Nine designers remain in the competition at the start of the show. The designers this week have to work with their teams to develop as a group a collection for summer for the buyers. Team Nicole's Daniel, Priscilla and Johana selected a "Summer in the City" theme. Team John's Cassandra, Amber, Brandon and Silvia go with the theme of "Tropical Vacation." Team Jessica's Garrett, JesseRay and Hunter go with a "Pool Party" theme.
Team Nicole has plenty of talent, but in the edited version of the show you get the impression that designers Daniel and Priscilla do not want to include Johana's ideas in their plans. Daniel and Priscilla gave her the task of designing a tank top—not the greatest task. If you can believe the show's dialogue tells the whole story, it appears the duo wanted Johana off their team. However it was Johana's work that caught the eye of all three buyers when she designed a sizzling jumpsuit instead of a top. Macys, Saks, and Express bid on Johana's strapless jumpsuit. Erika Express summed it up best when she said enthusiastically, "We all want that jumpsuit!" She bought the design for 100,000. So glad Johana the designer of GLAUDI continues to create stunning styles. Her strapless jumpsuit I sketched above is a fave of mine.
