Before I talk about the fabulous gowns at the Oscars, I have to say I loved host Ellen DeGeneres' opening monologue and her low-key approach to the show -- including ordering pizza and that star power selfie that famously shut down Twitter! And I think Lupita Nyong'o gave one of the best acceptance speeches I've ever heard.
One reason I watch the Oscars is to see all the fabulous gowns. Last night the celebs rocked the red carpet. While watching the awards I started sketching my favorite dresses.
Lupita Nyong'o was stunning in her pleated custom-made Prada gown with deep plunging neckline. She reminded me of a goddess in her light blue dress. On the red carpet she gave some backstory on why she chose this dress, "It's a blue that reminds me of Nairobi. It's a little bit of home." The sparkly Fred Leighton 18kt gold-and-diamond headband and crescent diamond earrings were the perfect touch.
I'll be back during the week updating my #Oscars2014 series with more sketches. Check back later :)
My weekend included some quality time with the puppies
In case you were wondering about all my pupppy photos and movies on Instagram, I was volunteering this weekend at my favorite animal shelter. Lots of fun. Lots of puppy kisses. And even hugs from the sweetest Pit Bull ever.
Meet Dolly the Pit Bull and Gilligan the Poodle mix from the adoption fair. Too cute!
